ONLINE SECURITY FIRM EXPANDS IN IRELAND

The Irish business sector is expected to be boosted soon by the expansion of online security firm McAfee.

The company has announced a €6million investment in its European Operations Centre in Cork City, which should create around 30 new jobs.

Security

Its investment involves carrying out a research and development project focused on new security technologies. In particular it will look into cloud, anti-virus and encryption technologies.

Recruitment for positions has already begun although there is no timescale as to when the vacancies will be filled. The move however, is a great boost for Cork and a vote of confidence for the area’s enterprise policies. It offers high end jobs working on cutting edge internet security technologies – the sort of work the Irish Government is keen to attract.

Protect yourself

After recent reports of Sony being infiltrated by hackers, it has arguably never been so important to invest in internet security.

Most computer users will have some form of internet security on their computers – for example if they are Windows users, then they may apply for free Windows updates. However, it’s also important to look for anti-virus and anti-spyware software to protect your computer against constantly changing viruses including Trojans.

Internet security software can be expensive but well worth the investment. Thankfully 5hop5.ie has a number of promo codes relating to internet security to bring prices down. For example, you can currently take advantage of a 20 per cent saving on McAfee Internet Security 2011 Comprehensive and a 20 per cent saving on McAfee Internet Security 2011 Ultimate.
