One of the biggest names in the brewing industry could soon be under new ownership – even after an initial bid was rejected.
Foster’s Group, which is Australia’s biggest brewer, rejected a takeover bid of £6.2billion from SABMiller, believing it to be too low. However, SABMiller has vowed to continue to engage with Foster’s in an effort to secure an agreed takeover.
Undervalued
According to a statement released by Foster’s, its board believes the bid from SABMiller seriously undervalues the company.
There have been talks of a takeover since last year when plans were announced to break the company into two parts. Since then, Foster’s has spun off its troubled wine business which seemed to act as a deterrent to potential bidders; and its beer operations and its wine business, Treasury Wine, were listed separately on the stock exchange last month.
Drink up
Foster’s currently has a 50 per cent market share in Australia, but as we all know the drinks market in Ireland is much more competitive. Thankfully, whatever your tipple, you can enjoy some serious savings thanks to the drinks voucher codes available at 5hop5.ie.
Currently, for example, Vintage Wine Gifts is offering a £5 discount off any order value – and this offer doesn’t expire until April, 2013. There are many other drinks companies publishing voucher codes at the website too, including: Wine Hound and Wine Deal for wine lovers; CafĂ© Britt and Coffees of Hawaii if you like hot drinks; the Coca-Cola Store for soft drink fans; and the Guinness Webstore for Ireland’s home drink.
