AMAZON REACHES ONE FIFTH OF INTERNET USERS

Digital analysts Comscore have revealed that through the month of June, nearly one in five internet users globally visited Amazon websites.

Visitor numbers

According to the report, Amazon.com and its related regional subsidiaries, including Amazon.co.uk and Amazon Ireland, received 282million visitors – that’s the equivalent of 20.4 per cent of the worldwide internet population’s site visits during the month.

Indeed the company’s success is spread around the world – North America accounted for 35.4 per cent of visitors; Europe 31.8 per cent; and the Asia Pacific region 24.1 per cent.

Amazon’s closest competitor in terms of visitor numbers is eBay, which received 223.5million visitors during the same period – that’s 16.2 per cent of the worldwide internet audience.
