Soon you will be able to travel from
The sister ships Stena Superfast VII and Superfast VIII will be the largest ferries to ever sail between the countries on the Belfast-Cairnryan route with Stena Line appointing County Down ’s MJM Marine to carry out the refurbishment work on the ferries.
Purpose built
In addition to launching the two new ships, Paul Grant, Stena Line’s route director, commented that the firm would be launching a purpose built port and terminal at Cairnryan in November.
He described it as a “huge milestone” for the service at the culmination of a significant investment programme. The ship’s layout will also be changed to accommodate freight customers and, for the first time, there will be no deck height restrictions meaning almost any freight load can be accommodated.
However, it is passengers that really stand to benefit – the vessels will have room for 1,200 people as well as 660 cars or 110 freight units. There will be 12 daily departures between the cities.
