Still
I suppose I wouldn’t literally want
my TV to go up in smoke… which is what has been happening to some unfortunate
Sony customers recently.
Safety checks
The
electronics firm is offering free safety checks on its TV models after a number
of sets started smoking. It has warned that a component used in eight different
versions of its Bravia televisions may be faulty and could, in rare cases,
overheat. It has not however, issued a full recall.
The
models affected are all LCD models sold in Europe since June 2007: the
KDL-40D3400, KDL-40D3500, KDL-40D3550, KDL-40D3660, KDL-40V3000, KDL-40W3000,
KDL-40X3000 and the KDL-40X3500. Around 1.6million of the models have been sold
worldwide; but the reports of overheating have so far been restricted to Japan .
According
to Sony, the televisions are not at risk while they are switched off – but
anyone who notices unusual noises, smells or smoking should unplug the power
cable and stop using the set immediately.
Electronics
vouchers
Personally
if my TV started making unusual noises or chain smoking more than Bet Lynch
(OK, so I have watched Coronation Street)
I might think it’s time for a new one – but as we all know, they don’t come
cheap.
Thankfully,
5hop5.ie can help with a whole section devoted to electronics voucher
codes. It’s not just cheap deals on TVs that could be yours – you could
pick up bargains on everything from MP3 players to laptops and vacuum cleaners.
So why not check out the section now and see if there are any voucher codes
worth grabbing… before they catch fire.
